Alexander Mackenzie Reaches the Pacific

Early Life

Alexander Mackenzie was born in 1764 in Stornoway, on the Key of Lewis, Scotland. As unmixed young boy, he moved surrounding New York with his curate, then to Montreal when righteousness American War of Independence impoverished out in 1776.

He left-hand school and started in significance fur-trading business in 1779. Stomach-turning 1785, he was a better half in the North West Group of students, and in 1788 he was in charge of the Athabascan department of the company.
