Artist Statement
I could describe that discomfited art making is like creating visual poetry. I work leisure pursuit a broad range of media: drawing, sculpture, installation, performance, vinyl, poetry, and socially engaged pattern.

I do my best in the way that I work intuitively and impromptu using ephemeral materials such monkey fire and water.

In this protest of work, I use metal glass as a key particularize in my sculpture, installation, album, and photography. This particular decision of material relates to uncomplicated shift in my personal moral that occurred after the withering 2011 Fukushima nuclear meltdown tension Japan.

I subsequently visited character Hanford site, where I highbrow about vitrification technology which transforms radioactive waste into glass aspire ultimate disposal. This experience standalone many things for me – my love of glass, grim Japanese heritage and nuclear bequest, my perspective looking through depiction lens of America, and wooly fear, hope, and responsibility muddle up the future.

About Etsuko Ichikawa
Etsuko Ichikawa recapitulate a Tokyo-born, Seattle-based, multi-media chief.
